Albanese Government’s announcement to commence the new Aged Care Act on 1st November 2025

The Filipino Community Council of Victoria Inc. warmly welcomes the Albanese Government’s announcement to commence the new Aged Care Act on 1st November 2025.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ageing Australia and other advocates for championing realistic and compassionate implementation of timelines in ensuring that both the aged care sector and our elderly community are given the time and support they deserve to transition smoothly.

For ethno-specific aged care providers like FCCVI, this extension provides much-needed space to:

📌 Finalise service agreements
📌Strengthen internal systems and governance
📌 Upskill staff and improve workforce readiness
📌Upgrade technology and digital readiness
📌 Engage and educate our elderly clients about the reforms

We acknowledge the prompt and decisive actions of Minister for Aged Care, Sam Rae MP, and Minister for Health, Aged Care and NDIS, Mark Butler MP, in addressing the pressing needs of older Australians. Their early engagement reflects a constructive step toward restoring trust in the aged care system and reinforces the importance of government accountability in safeguarding the rights and dignity of our elder community.

At FCCVI, we remain committed to culturally safe and responsive care for our Filipino-Australian seniors and multicultural ageing communities. We are optimistic that this extended timeline will allow us to continue delivering high-quality, person-centred services in alignment with the upcoming reforms.

We look forward to working collaboratively with the Government to build a system that benefits everyone.
